The Nostalgia Rebellion explores nostalgia as both refuge and resistance in an era shaped by constant consumption, digital distraction, and engineered attention. Drawing from pre-smartphone rituals of play, boredom, and embodied presence, the work reflects on a time when joy was tactile, and individuality was formed offline. We have hunter-gatherer brains in a dopamine casino. These paintings argue for slowness as a radical human act. Through floral and fruit patterns that echo wallpaper, temporary tattoos, and childhood doodles, the series honors analog pleasure, shared presence, and risk. This work is not anti-technology, but a call to reclaim attention, curiosity, and play—reminding us that feeling fully human remains possible if we choose to look up.
